Success Story Gustav Mahler Private University of Music
One of academyFIVE's longest-standing customers is the Gustav Mahler Private University of Music. The Austrian university decided to continue working with Simovative even after its privatisation. Since then, numerous developments have been driven forward together, enabling GMPU to manage its administration easily and securely.
The University
The Gustav Mahler Private University of Music emerged from the former Carinthian State Conservatory and received its accreditation in 2019. In keeping with over a hundred years of educational tradition, it offers its 350 students the opportunity to professionalise their musical education in the degree programmes Musical Performance Art or Instrumental and Vocal Pedagogy.
The challenge
The GMPU has been working with academyFIVE since 2006 – at that time still known as the Carinthian State Conservatory. When the university was founded in 2019, the question arose as to whether to stay with the existing system or to look for an alternative. A significant role in the decision was played by the course management, which until then had still been managed completely offline on a course catalogue. But the topics of customer support and customisation options were also important criteria.
The solution
The GMPU decided to continue to rely on our campus management software academyFIVE. Since only the data administration and the examination management of the Campus Management System had been used until privatisation and there was no real timetabling, this project was tackled as a new start and the curriculum was set up within only one year. The implementation of the new course management with scheduling brought great added value for all users.
Thanks to Simovative's flexibility and readiness for new developments, it was possible to jointly implement an interface to UHStat, a form for collecting student admissions. And the entire performance area was also steadily expanded in close cooperation.
Another special feature: the GMPU was the first academyFIVE customer to switch to the cloud. Although it felt like jumping in at the deep end at first, the changeover went smoothly and without downtime. Today, the university benefits from the scalability of the resources it needs and there are no more difficulties in terms of performance.
The customer's conclusion
Herbert Frieser from GMPU's central IT service is aware of the positive impact academyFIVE has had on the entire administration of the Carinthian university:
‘With academyFIVE, many tasks and processes in our administration have become much easier. To name just one example: in the past, our financial management was very laboriously played out via an SAP programme. Today, with academyFIVE's finance module, invoices can be created, exported and sent with just one click.’
